Clinic for Geriatric Medicine

Geriatric medicine is the medical field which is concerned with identifying, treating, rehabilitating and preventing severe and chronic diseases in elderly patients as well as specific problems in the later stages of their lives.

As a rule, geriatric patients are more than 65 years of age; typically they have multiple diseases, are frail as well as particularly prone to illness and require a holistic therapeutic approach. Therefore geriatrics is not merely focused on the treatment of organs but provides holistically-based treatments within a multi-professional team, with the primary goal of improving the functional condition and the life quality of elderly patients, promoting their autonomy and achieving the greatest possible independence in their daily lives.
